Our Story
Little Foxes Waterloo is the latest chapter in a story that began back in 1996, when our founders, Jim and Margaret, decided to create a place where children could grow, learn, and play in a safe, supportive environment. What started as a small nursery in their garden has evolved into a family-run business with multiple locations, all offering high-quality childcare. Today, their daughters Sophie and Anna lead the nursery, maintaining the same dedication to providing exceptional care while expanding their reach to more families in need of quality early childhood education.
Our founding vision was simple: to treat every child like our own. This philosophy continues to guide us as we care for and educate young minds, offering them not just a place to play, but a space to truly grow emotionally, socially, and intellectually. At Little Foxes, we deeply believe in the benefits of outdoor play for children's development. Outdoor exploration offers essential experiences that contribute to their physical and emotional well-being. We prioritize spending 80% of our day outside, where children benefit from fresh air, open spaces, and hands-on play that encourages curiosity and fosters independence.
Through outdoor play, children develop motor coordination, strengthen their physical abilities, and engage in imaginative experiences that build social skills and problem-solving. Our large outdoor area is designed to provide these rich learning experiences, offering ample room for movement and exploration, fostering a sense of freedom and self-confidence.
Indoor Spaces for Play and Learning
Indoor spaces at Little Foxes are carefully designed to support children's developmental milestones, guiding them through their unique learning journey. Our rooms are intentionally curated to meet the developmental needs of children at each stage, preparing them for transitions as they grow and progress. We offer a range of rooms that children can move through at their own pace - progression is not strictly based on age, but on each child’s individual development, confidence, and readiness to explore, play, and take the next step.
